Message on Camper Safety

In light of the recent devastating flooding and the tragic loss of life in Central Texas, we want to share clear information about the safety measures we have in place for our campers at Camp Copass. We do not take lightly the responsibility you’ve entrusted to us by allowing your children to attend camp at Camp Copass.

  • Camp Copass follows a specific Crisis Management Plan for its campgrounds. *
  • The camp is located on Lake Lewisville in a zone not at risk for flooding, so flooding is not addressed in our plan. However, we always monitor weather at Camp Copass and work in close communication with the Denton County Emergency Management Department.
  • Emergency management services are located just 5 minutes away, ensuring quick access in case of emergencies.
  • The primary responsibility of all camp leaders is the care and wellbeing of campers. SAFETY IS PARAMOUNT and we take it very seriously!
  • Camp Copass is licensed by the Texas Department of State Health Services as a Youth Camp Operator and regularly undergo thorough inspections at both local and state levels. Our most recent inspection was on July 1, 2025 and there were zero corrections that had to be made.
  • All adult counselors and leaders are vetted by their respective churches, have background checks, and receive training in approved Child Protection protocols prior to serving onsite.
  • While acknowledging that tragedy can strike anyone, Camp Copass is prepared and has a longstanding commitment of 80 years to serving churches and children safely and effectively.
  • Staff at Camp Copass are dedicated to providing the highest possible levels of safety and care for all campers.

We continue to pray for the families affected by the Central Texas flooding while we remain committed to the highest standards of care for every camper who enters our gates.
