Camp Copass and the Coronavirus

March 24, 2020

Dear Friends of Camp Copass,

I hope this letter finds you and your loved ones healthy and enjoying some extra “together time” during this unusual situation across our country. It brings to mind something that my mother used to say during difficult times and that was “This too shall pass.” And guess what? She was right and I believe that this statement applies to our world today, “This too shall pass.”

As we proceed into unchartered territory at Camp Copass, we know that we are still serving an all knowing, all powerful God, who is in control of all things. While we put our trust in God, we are also seeking ways to maintain the camp ministry where so many lives are changed each year.

We are about 95% self-funded through our retreats, conferences, and summer camps. So as you can imagine, our revenue has come to a screeching halt. This time of year is always financially tight as we are preparing for summer and we depend on our weekend retreats to keep us afloat. We have also been in the midst of building the “New Hope Dorm” for this summer camp season and are hopeful to be able to continue that project. We are presently moving forward on the new dorm on a week by week basis.

The Executive Committee is working closely with our staff as we have put in place a spending freeze, have deferred payments, and cut costs in every area that we feel comfortable with at this time. The plans will be reevaluated on a bi-weekly basis until things are back to normal.

We are asking for each of you to pray for the camp and for wisdom as we make decisions. We’ve added an online donation tab to our website that will allow you to give financially to the “Corona Relief Fund.” Just click the button below to make a secure contribution today.

GIVE NOW

If you are able to give and would rather send a check, just mail it to the address below and put “Corona Relief Fund” on the memo line. All donations will go 100% toward keeping Camp Copass functioning in the days ahead!

We are looking forward to Summer Camp 2020 as we believe that God is going to do great and mighty things this upcoming summer!

The Lord has given me this scripture to cling to, and that is: “Be Still and Know that I Am God.” Psalm 46:10. There are a lot of unknowns before us, but we are confident and trusting God to lead.
